Preservation House - Akron, Ohio

The 1874 one-room masonry school house has historically served as a county and city school, city library and community center. Over the years, alterations had changed the building's appearance. The building was fully restored as a recognizable school house and place of assembly. The bell and belfry assembly were reinstalled using the 1878 anchor clamp system originally used in the school house. The exterior white paint was removed from the historic masonry, the roof was reshingled with sawn cedar shingles, and the eave trim was restored.
